How important is your customer to you?
No Company can survive without Customers!
There are three different types of customers:
- Key Customers - Customers that invest highly and continuously in your business.
- Established Customers - Customers that buy your products and services, irregularly.
- New Potential Customers - Customers unaware of your offerings.
Your goal is to maintain your key customers, convert your established customers into key ones, and attract new potentials.
To best way to accomplish this is by working on the following stages:
Profile all your customers
Learn how they are using your products and services, how those benefits you offer are improving your customers lives, or if you are selling to companies, how these benefits impact on their business. The more you know about your customers, the better. Your goal is to sustain a continuous, fruitful relationship, and develop this relationship even further.
Monitor your key customers
Ensure that they are at all times happy, should problems arrive ensure that they are resolved promptly and without any disruptions. There is nothing worse than losing a key customer for a problem you knew and yet you chose to ignore, or missed altogether. Keep asking all your key customers how they feel about you and constantly improve.
Analyse your established customers and look for ways to strengthen your ties.
Your established customers will want to buy more regularly from you, but something's stopping them. Ask them; find out what is stopping them from buying more regularly. Remind them that you have other products and services, they could also benefit from. They may not be aware, or not realising their gains. It is your responsibility to keep them up to date, and help them understand their benefits in trading with your company.
Constantly ask for referrals.
Your key and established customers have contacts that could be of value to your company. If your customers are happy, they'll be willing to recommend you to their contacts. If your customers are businesses, you could even ask them to recommend you to their customers. Promotion is not the only way of attracting new customers, by constantly communicating your business across to every single person that you know, you maximise your chances of building a large base of new potential customers, which can then be converted to key customers. This is absolutely FREE.
